The owner of this circa 1969 office building requested a modernized upgrade to the common areas, including the main building lobby, which was finished with the original floor-to-ceiling travertine wall panels and ceramic tile floors.
We cleaned and sealed these stone wall panels so that they would complement the new granite flooring and base that replaced the worn ceramic tiles. The outdated suspended ceiling was replaced with one that is constructed of shallow, barrel-vaulted sheetrock. Concealed perimeter LED lighting and suspended drum-style light fixtures completed the look. These changes to the lobby create a feeling of sleek classicism.
The common restrooms were upgraded to comply with the current accessibility codes; and new plumbing fixtures, lighting and finishes in earthy tones of cocoa, beige and gray were added throughout. We installed high-efficiency plumbing fixtures with automatic controls, and granite countertops and porcelain tile floors completed the upgrade. These changes have turned the outdated design into one that is both understated and distinctive.
