San Ramon is the new corporate headquarters for xMatters, an international developer of relevance engine software. Interform was tasked with creating a unique identity that is a departure from the typical corporate office suite. The clients had very specific ideas about the image and functionality of the space, and it was Interform’s goal to develop a space solution that is as unique as the product xMatters provides.
Collaboration and exchange of ideas are important components of the xMatters culture, so one of the requirements was a completely open office environment. Workstations were supplemented with huddle rooms for ad hoc meetings. We used Teknion’s Leverage system, which incorporates 120-degree angles and strategically placed glass panels to separate departments.
Rather than the traditional break room, the designer created a café that is equipped with whiteboards, informal seating and a large dining surface, enabling the café to double as a meeting space. The expansive conference room doubles as a training facility, and tables are easily reconfigured for a classroom setting.
Using a color palette in shades of rich neutrals complemented by granite countertops, mosaic glass tile backsplashes and exposed concrete flooring creates a sleek and dramatic look that fits the company’s progressive culture.
